This was completed for the first vidding challenge from The Happiness Project, #thehappinesseditingproject If I was locked in a dark room and had nothing to do but edit Skins for the rest of my life, I think I'd get by alright. I'm still convinced that this is the most cinematically gorgeous show ever created - most certainly due to its wide, outdoor shots in natural light. So on the Amino app fanvidding community (RIP), somebody reached out to me and asked if I'd like to participate in a collab! I had never done one before. I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't a fan of the song or the theme, but I listened to it and thought "Yeah, why not?" I don't watch other people's collabs so it was something I never sought out. It was actually cool because I only had to vid 8 seconds, which meant they could be 8 PERFECT seconds that I could just go to town on. MY CROWNING JEWEL OF SKINS VIDEOS I'VE MADE, AND PERHAPS MY CROWNING JEWEL OF ALL TIME. I'm very, very, VERY proud of this one! This was the first video I made after updating from PowerDirector 12 to 14. The editing features were not all that different. The most exciting part was the new coloring software that came with it, I REALLY felt like I could play with color! The coloring's not perfect, and creates some patches on their faces, but I'm still REALLY happy about it how it turned out. I think the contrast looks absolutely stunning. December, 2015 Fandom: Skins Compilation of Closing Credits Scenes Description: I just thought the closing credits were so well done each season, I wanted to compile them all. The version of Skins that is widely available (i.e. on streaming services like Netflix, or DvDs) has had its original music stripped for international copyright reasons. It was probably too expensive to license all of the songs they included. But for me, ESSENTIAL to the Skins viewing is the original music. I have downloaded all of the original episodes with its original music, and that is what I used here to upload the beautifully edited closing credits scenes, in which music is the heart and soul. It makes the video copyrighted in many countries, however, as to be expected.

Basically a compilation of every kissing scene of theirs that I knew. If I forgot one someone let me know and I'll fix it. What... what kind of mood was I in this December?? And then there are times when I say no, this show belongs to the losers. The underrated. September, 2014 Fandom: Skins Song: Boom Clap by Charli XCX Description: This was both really easy and really difficult to make. Easy because Skins has so many beautiful and fun shots to choose from, and difficult to narrow them down. There's a ton of teen dramas out there, and I'm not saying they all suck, but cinematically none of them have substance. The great thing about Skins is in addition to it being aimed at teenagers, it has such a strong visual sparkle. August, 2014 Fandom: Skins Characters: Rich Hardbeck and Grace Violet Blood Song: Signs by Bloc Party Description: I felt like a sick monster editing this. NEVER AGAIN. It's just too much. Whatever video I make next will be happier I swear. Generation 3 of Skins is seriously underrated. SERIOUSLY. I'm happy to make as many videos featuring this cast as I can. I was really happy with this vid in terms of content, but still not technical skill. Those quick fade transitions... At the time, though, I was definitely pushing myself to improve. Here began a strategy that I still use today in voiceover heavy vids - I plan the audio first. I had all of the voiceovers and audio mapped out in the song, so that I can create the narrative arc and pacing that I want. Once the voiceovers were all in place, I edited the images on top. July, 2014 Fandom: Skins Characters: Freddie McClair and Effy Stonem Song: Tee Shirt by Birdy Description: Simple song. Simple video. Not a simple couple, but, I tried to keep some of the darkness out of this. Throwback to the first time I tried to vid something other than Harry Potter! I'm extraordinarily passionate about Skins on a cinematic level, and Freddie and Effy were in many ways my favorite pairing. Looking back on this video is difficult for the same reasons I struggle to look back on my older Harry Potter videos - transitions. Just scene after scene after scene cut together with very quick fades. There's nothing smooth about it at all as far as the viewing experience. The satisfaction in making it really comes down to the way the scenes match the lyrics. "When I saw you everyone knew I liked the effect that you had on my eyes. But no one else heard the weight of your words or felt the effect that they have on my mind"
