Freddie/Effy - The Only Exception
November, 2014
Fandom: Skins
Characters: Freddie McClair and Effy Stonem
Song: The Only Exception by Paramore
Description:
There's nothing unique or special about this video or the song choice. I
just had to make it because Kaya Scodelario is my PRINCESS. Also I hit
5,000 views whattttt like for me that actually means a lot. And is a
lot. Because my audience is just supposed to be me.
With this video I thought I'd include a little more background of me as a vidder.
As I had mentioned previously, I have been vidding "in my head", so to speak for years prior to actually editing and uploading. By that I mean I've
had the ideas of what clips go where, what the effects would be, and essentially the entire visualization of a video prepared just by listening to a song. It's just I never had any software that would allow me to make it
until 2014. That means that I have well into the hundreds of video ideas. It's hard for me to listen to a song without making one.
After
I settled into the hobby and turned some videos into reality, I
realized that I'm kind of slow at the technical process? And I've been
self taught, which makes me even slower. I definitely can see an
improvement across every video for technicality, but I'm kind of a
perfectionist so it bugs me how what starts as a masterpiece in my head
ends up as a pretty average, standard video in practice. AND it takes a
long time. AND of course, I was a full time college student by this point.
SO I listed them all out. Every idea that I had. And I
numbered them. I got onto a random number generator and let fate decide
what video to make next. This is the first video I did this for. (Almost) every video since then has followed the same principle - random number generator has become my friend. I feel like it's not fair to some videos and not others when they're
all made at different levels of expertise. It would imbalance the fandoms as well. And, more importantly, I'd be excited to make
any of the plentiful video ideas I have!! So I leave it up to fate. At first I wasn't sure if this
system would work, especially because this video in particular came up at random and I was like, "Oh, I don't actually have this one as well planned out as I do many of the others!" But it made it more
challenging, and also adds a little spontaneity. The result is I've
gotten some really nice feedback so far for this one so maybe that comes
through!
