Description:
DISCLAIMER: Sorry for how bad the timing is. For some reason it's not aligned as well on youtube as it is on my computer.
This is for Yvonne and Zac who are currently reunited at Comic-Con/Nerd HQ! I know this song gets used a lot, but I came up with this video so many years ago... It was ninth grade, we were working on a school project all night, and literally everyone got sick so we couldn't fall asleep afterwards. Or at least I couldn't. So I got up, walked around, and came up with this. And here like four, five years later or whatever I got to make it. Feels good. Real good.

I tried out a lot of new technical skills with this one! Lots of hits and misses but I definitely learned a lot!

In hindsight, this is one of my most popular videos. It highlights a lot of what I've been thinking about, which is that vidding audiences nowadays, especially on youtube, are partial to vids that are rich in technicality and effects. Most often, the "trendy" vids are too much for me to handle. A lot of popular videos out there are... "over-edited" I suppose. Those editing effects, layovers, etc., are still not what draws me to watching vids (because remember first and foremost I'm a viewer before a creator). But I keep finding myself trying to do more and more effects to gain audiences. It works, this one has more effects and is therefore more popular. I don't know if it makes me as happy though - especially because I don't have a program or computer that makes it very easy.

Don't get me wrong, this video was A LOT of fun! I made it over a summer where I was working my first job and I remember it being a lot of work and a lot of determination. It's difficult for me to look back on, though. When I watch other people's vids, I LOVE effects if they are used in moderation, skillfully, intelligently, and fittingly. That's the kind of vidder I want to be someday. Plenty of other vidders that I admire endlessly have figured out that balance of using effects. It's still hard for me though.
